PROJECT DETAILS A very tightly confined site required the use of sheet piling to maximise developable area. Building loads were safely transferred via vibro stone columns supporting RC bases and beams. The steel framed envelope comprised high quality rainscreen cladding and curtain walling. Internally the accommodation included test kitchens, laboratories as well as office space.
BRIEF - To deliver a state of the art Research and Innovation facility to keep Warburtons at the cutting edge of the highly competitive FMCG sector.
SOCIAL VALUE -
CHALLENGE: ABNORMALS AFFECTING SITE VIABILITY - Construction works included extensive demolition of existing vehicle maintenance building to allow for new build works to take place. Access to the main bakery remained uninterrupted throughout the works to ensure zero impact on Warburtons operations.
ACTION - Our team sealed partitions, insulated wall panels and installed temporary screens to segregate construction works from the adjacent bakery. Water Suppression Systems were used to control dust and prevent transfer. Noise suppressors were used on plant and equipment. The project required collaboration and teamwork between all parties and intricate logistics planning.
OUTCOME - The project was completed in line with client expectations and provided Warburtons with a world class R&I facility.
